I have been interested in birds for just over a year now, and I love photographing the wildlife at my local wetland, Travis Wetland/Ōruapaeroa. My favorite bird is by far the Yellow-eyed penguin/Hoiho.

Hello, I’m Saryu, a 17 year old naturalist who mainly focuses on invertebrate taxonomy and nature photography. I am a curator and an avid user of iNaturalistNZ and have uploaded more than 3000 species of wildlife on the website until now.

In the recent couple of years, I’ve become addicted to ornithology and bird photography! Thanks to my experiences, I find myself better at identifying what birds are eating, rather than identifying the birds themselves! Hopefully this will change soon…
