5 Minute Bird Counts - Otari Wilton’s

Recently, I have started doing a series of 5 Minute Bird Counts at six different points around a local bush reserve, Otari Wilton’s Bush. So far, the species have been slightly underwhelming. Although, during the first visit, I spotted a Morepork roosting in a tree, which was exciting!

Birds present were the common forest birds, such as Kereru, Grey Warbler and Tui, along with some common garden birds such as Eurasian Blackbird, House Sparrows, and Chaffinch.

So far there have been 2 of these counts, and as more and more get completed, it will be interesting to see how the numbers and birds differ throughout different months, seasons, and weather.
