Seabird Data Collection off Waihau
This January, I had the opportunity to go on a fishing trip for two days off Waihau. We saw many seabirds, and I submitted all the birds I saw to eBird so they can be used as citizen science data! This data is used to create maps of the habitat of different bird species, find information about them, and much more! Seabird data is very important, as not many people go on boats and gather data in some parts of New Zealand, like the Bay of Plenty!
You can submit data to eBird from anywhere - it could be at your house, your school, your favorite local park, anywhere! It’s very helpful to citizen science. Get involved at https://ebird.org/home.
Check out some pictures from the day!
